What is a Farm To Table Event
Due to COVID 19, we have cancelled the event for this year. Please watch for the event in 2021!
We are delighted to announce our 4th Annual Farm to Table Dinner on Tuesday, July 21st! This unique event is an opportunity for farmers and agricultural companies to help take control of the agricultural narrative with influential consumers. Agriculture touches everyone in many ways, some of which go unnoticed. This event will facilitate conversations with people about where their food comes from. When consumers talk to farmers, they get the real story of agriculture.
We have 3 main goals for this event: 1) to change the stereotype of agriculture; 2) to be completely bipartisan/apolitical; and 3) to break down barriers to agriculture through awareness and education of our community leaders and elected officials.
The Evening’s Events
Iowa’s long-standing agricultural history will be on display at Cinnamon Ridge Farms of Donahue. The host farm’s diverse row crop and modern milking operations work beautifully to bring together consumers and farmers from around the region at this elegant on-farm dining experience. The event is specifically designed to bring key consumers and Iowa farmers together to explore agriculture, focusing on animal care and environmental practices that lead to the safe and pure food products we consume at our dinner tables throughout the year. Everything guests see, do, hear, and eat will be presented with Iowa agriculture in mind.
Upon arrival, guests will board tour wagons and receive a guided farm tour, disembarking at the locally sourced appetizer and beverage stations. After working up an appetite in the fresh air, guests will enjoy a fabulous meal. Guests will be seated with local farmers for easy ongoing conversations directly with farmers. The meal is served by local FFA members. A top chef from the locally and family owned Machine Shed Restaurant will be onsite preparing the evening meal and doing a working presentation while cooking the meal.
The event will have the many facets of agriculture working together with all the senses to showcase the heritage of Iowa Agriculture. The guests will see pollinators, corn, soybeans, pork, dairy, beef, and displays of how agriculture is used every day. They will taste the efforts of farmers and hear directly from farmers and panel guests on what it means to be a farmer today.
Anticipated Guests:
Expanding our reach and hosting new guests each year is our goal! We look forward to hosting guests from across the counties of Eastern Iowa which may include: County Boards of Supervisors, state legislators, local mayors, local college administrators, hospital administrators, doctors, dietitians, food bloggers, QC business leaders, school board members, business leaders, and more.
How we fund this event:
This event is self-funded with all money going directly to the event and local agricultural outreach.
